Junyao Wu

My name is Junyao Wu, a student in Finance of the 2017 class from Soochow University. I am very happy to share with you my experience of two-year studying at Soochow University and studying abroad at the University of Victoria in Canada. In September 2017, I was excited to enroll in Soochow University and started my two-year study life. During the first year, we studied various general courses, such as marketing, management, macroeconomics and other courses. Most courses were taught entirely in English by foreign teachers, and even assignments had to be completed in English, including many presentations and group projects. This was quite challenging for me as I was new to the all-English teaching mode. With my own efforts to adapt and the detailed explanations from the teachers, I quickly adapted to it. In the second year, I chose the major of finance, and studied some professional courses such as intermediate macroeconomics, intermediate microeconomics, management statistics, and other specialized courses. These courses were more specialized, and through my studies, I gained a better understanding of financial and economic knowledge, laying a foundation for my future study abroad experiences. which are more specialized and professional.

After completing my two years of study at Soochow University, I embarked on a study journey at the University of Victoria in Canada, majoring in Economics. Thanks to my two years at Soochow University, I didn't feel lost when I first arrived at University of Victoria, and quickly adapted to their teaching style. Beyond academics, the University of Victoria introduced me to many amazing experiences. Located on a small island in British Columbia, Canada, the university boasts pleasant weather and beautiful scenery. The campus isn't very large, but it's well-organized and has a cozy atmosphere. Both faculty and students are friendly, and even strangers greeting each other warmly. Squirrels and deer can be seen leisurely wandering on campus. During my time studying at UVic, I gained not only academic knowledge but also experienced the strong sense of humanity. The pure friendliness and gentleness of Victoria's land left a deep imprint on my memory. It's a place of purity and beauty.
